The Story behind Wilbi Kids Clothing: An Interview with the Founders after their Photoshoot & Launch event

Behind the Brand – A Conversation with the Founders of Wilbi Kids Clothing

We recently caught up with Annabelle and Terri, the creative minds behind Wilbi Kids Clothing, after they hosted their launch event and photoshoot at Welder Events.

Wilbi is a new brand in the world of children's fashion, known for its timeless yet practical pieces. After a successful soft launch at Welder Events, the brand is steadily building a presence in the market. We caught up with the founders to learn more about their journey, the inspiration behind Wilbi, and how they’ve brought their vision for stylish kids’ wear to life.

Q: How did you both come up with the idea for your clothing line? Can you tell us more about Wilbi?

We've always loved designing clothes, not just for ourselves but for our children too. It started as a fun project, but over time, friends kept asking where they could buy the clothes we were making. That positive feedback was the push we needed to consider turning this into something bigger. After gauging interest, we decided to host a soft launch at Welder Events. The response was absolutely incredible—almost everyone who came bought multiple pieces! That moment really affirmed our decision to move forward with Wilbi.

Q: How did you come up with the name for the company?

We actually turned to friends and family for help. We wanted something unique, memorable, and that reflected our style. After tossing around a few ideas, “Wilbi” just stuck—it resonated with everyone, so we trusted the process and made it official!

Q: What drew you to Welder Events for your launch event?

We knew we needed a venue that was centrally located, spacious, and matched our aesthetic—something simple but elegant. Welder Events was the it perfect fit. Not only was it a beautiful space to showcase our collection, but they also had great coffee on-site and an area for kids to play, which was such a bonus for us.

Q: What was your favourite moment from the event?

Honestly, the whole launch was so special. But if we had to pick a highlight, it would be seeing all the little ones running around in our collection. It felt so rewarding to see our vision come to life and to receive such a warm response from everyone who attended.

Q: Did you have a theme or style for the launch? How did you incorporate it into the event and space?

Our collection is a blend of classic and timeless pieces with modern practicality, and we wanted the launch to reflect that. Welder Events versatile design was the perfect backdrop—it’s modern but with a sense of history, much like our clothes. We kept things simple, letting the space speak for itself while showcasing our pieces in a way that allowed guests to really connect with the brand.

Q: We understand you had a photo shoot during the event. Did you work with any particular vendors?

Yes, we were so lucky to have our friend Carol from Carol Bremner Photography there. She really captured the essence of our collection and the energy of the launch. We also worked with Paperweight for our branding, and the team at Welder Events was amazing, helping us with any last-minute details. It all came together beautifully.

Q: What advice would you give to others planning a launch event at Welder Events?

We highly recommend it! Sophie and her team were just fantastic. She’s incredibly well-connected and made sure everything ran smoothly, linking us up with the right people for everything we needed. If you're planning a launch, Welder Events is definitely the place to do it.
